GOLF SWING MECHANICS - JOHNNY CUETO AND THE OVER THE TOP GOLF® SWING

JOHNNY CUETO FULL BODY TURN

FORT PIERCE, Florida - Anyone reading this article has to ask, "What does Cincinnati Reds pitcher Johnny Cueto have to do with golf swing mechanics?" It is amazing how many of our everyday movements bring to mind the inherent human body actions that were incorporated into my OVER THE TOP GOLF® swing method. For those who are just now becoming familiar with my golf swing optimization method, there are five set-up changes that, when added to your naturally occurring golf swing, will result in dramatic increases in distance and improvements in accuracy. Those who have purchased the OVER THE TOP GOLF® instructional eBook already know that I have used drawings and explanations using both claw and sledge hammers, weed whackers and frisbees to illustrate golf swing dynamics - not the swing itself, mind you, but "dynamics."

JOHNNY CUETO WEIGHT TRANSFER

One of those realizations of how fundamental human movements compare to my OTG golf swing method happened while watching Cincinnati Reds pitcher Johnny Cueto do his thing. Similar to legendary pitcher Luis Tiant, but unlike just about everyone else, Cueto actually makes a full body turn away from the target before throwing. This mimics not only the OVER THE TOP GOLF® swing but a conventional golf swing as well.

JOHNNY CUETO WALK THROUGH AND BODY TURN

Next, in order to create a tremendous amount of power, a baseball pitcher essentially spins his torso by walking forward. A golfer using a conventional swing, by contrast, executes the entire swing with his feet remaining planted. Can you imagine a baseball pitched doing that? Where would his power come from? This is weight transfer times ten.

ROGER CLEMENS READY TO FIRE

One of the five set-up changes that makes up the OVER THE TOP GOLF® swing method is a walk-through move. Without the other four components, this in itself doesn't work worth a darn but it is, in and of itself, the engine that creates the added distance that all golfers seek. Throwing a baseball and swinging a golf club are obviously two different things but if you'll use a bit of imagination, the correlation between the two becomes evident.

ROGER CLEMENS WALK THROUGH AND BODY TURN

I have also included a few photos of baseball pitcher Roger Clemens. There are few comparisons between Clemens and Cueto but Roger stands more upright upon completion of his pitch and this reminds me more of how I stand upon completion of the OVER THE TOP GOLF® swing. One of my comments in the eBook is that I sometimes even find myself walking toward the target after my swing. A golfer using my golf swing method creates so much torque that it's almost impossible not to keep walking after doing a hard swing.

ROGER CLEMENS FINISH POSITION FACING THE TARGET

These illustrations will hopefully convey how much power is lost using a conventional golf swing that fails to employ the rotational and forward movement of the torso that comes with walking through the shot. The last illustration is from the OVER THE TOP GOLF® instructional eBook showing yours truly at the finish position after using every ounce of power my body could manufacture - something that I hope you will consider doing yourself.

PLAY WINNING GOLF WITH AN OVER THE TOP GOLF SWING

PLAY WINNING GOLF WITH AN OVER THE TOP GOLF SWING

FORT PIERCE, Florida - It was an offer that I couldn’t refuse. April was free golf lesson month and it came in the middle of one of the most horrible slumps I’ve ever endured. As any golfing snowbird will tell you, spending the winter in Florida is not only a luxury, it’s also an opportunity to work on things that will enable you to crush your friends back home come springtime. It was a no brainer – pay fifteen dollars for the Over the Top Golf eBook, try it out for size, write an article about the experience then get a refund. I read your web site. Your method is not a cure for an over the top swing. Check! It doesn’t fix an over the top swing. Check! According to you, Over the Top Golf will optimize my golf swing whether I swing over the top or not. Check! Well, here’s my article and guess what? I don’t even want my money back!

The Over the Top Golf eBook is a well-narrated pictorial showing step-by-step instructions how to change my swing. In the past there have been countless golf pros who tried to do exactly that, without success I might add. First the book discussed golf swing dynamics, pretty basic stuff that, nevertheless, contained some illuminating ideas that I have incorporated into my repertoire. When one of them doesn’t seem to be working too well, I can switch to one of the others.  Next, the instructor went through the five set-up changes necessary in order to make the whole thing work. I must say, the geometry and physics were shockingly simple yet I have to ask myself why no golf instructor ever figured it out before now. Without giving away any proprietary information, all of these changes are a lesson in simplicity. A front view, a side view and even a top view of the Over the Top Golf swing, shown one frame at a time.  Then there’s a small box in the upper right corner that depicts the entire sequence in action. For such a simple little lesson, the presentation is impressive. For fifteen dollars, I’d say that it’s incredibly impressive!

Now for the results. I have always been a fader, high trajectory drives of 200 yards if I was lucky. No amount of lessons and practice time could cure me of that outside-in, over the top swing. I have never been able to hit long irons from the six iron on down so my approach shots are either with a hybrid or I play three shots to the green. Even my seven iron through pitching wedge shots always strayed off to the right. A decent bump and run short game and above average putter has enabled me to maintain a handicap in the high teens.

The currents state of my golf game has improved so much that I’m moved to sing the praises of the Over The Top Golf swing to anyone who will listen. On the driving range, and this never fails, people come up to me asking what kind of golf swing I’m using. Yes, your Over the Top Golf swing does look different but then so do my golf shots. Being able to duplicate straight shot after straight shot seems incredible to people watching. Your swing has been compared to that of Gary Player on more than one occasion.

Off the tee, I now hit the golf ball low and straight, sometimes with a slight draw. My distance has improved by almost fifty yards. I now hit my hybrids on a lower trajectory as well which means that they are running over the backs of greens – something that never, ever happened with my high floaters. The Over the Top Golf swing has such power to it; I can even hit a five iron now. In fact, I use it more than my hybrids. Lastly, all of my short iron and wedge shots go as straight as any pro out there on the PGA Tour and that’s no exaggeration.  One more thing that’s no exaggeration is that I have won more than that fifteen dollars I spent since learning the Over the Top Golf swing so keep the money with my blessing and if you ever decide to go public with your company, keep my name and address because I’ll be first in line to buy the IPO. - Eddie Reade

APRIL 2014 IS FREE GOLF LESSON MONTH AT OVER THE TOP GOLF®

GET A FREE GOLF LESSON FROM OVER THE TOP GOLF® IN APRIL 2014

FORT PIERCE, Florida - The OVER THE TOP GOLF® instructional eBook will be given away absolutely free to anyone who orders it during April 2014. The reason for this is twofold, one, because introducing this wonderful new golf swing method to golfers everywhere helps it to become even more well-known and, two, I want to obtain your feedback on how your golf swing has either improved or maybe, not improved as a result. This month, hopefully, will become a great learning experience for both of us.

The OVER THE TOP GOLF® swing method consists of just five set-up changes that, when added to your existing swing, will enable you to hit a golf ball longer and straighter than before. Whether or not you have that all-too-familiar outside-in, or "over the top" golf swing path, this method is going to surprise you. Not only because it's so simple that you'll wonder why nobody ever thought of it before now, but also because you'll see the golf ball coming off your club face like a bullet. You won't achieve results like this anywhere else - not with Butch Harmon, not with David Leadbetter, not with Hank Haney nor with any other golf pro charging hundreds of dollars for their lessons. The OVER THE TOP GOLF® swing is so easy to learn that you'll see an incredible improvement in days, not weeks or months.

There must be a catch because nothing is free in this world, right? That, my friend, is correct and here it is. Whomever purchases the OVER THE TOP GOLF® instructional eBook for the regular price of fifteen dollars has only to send me an email describing your experience - whether good or not so good - learning and using my golf swing method, and I will refund the purchase price in full. A one-hundred word description will suffice but, please, don't give away the five set-up changes in your article. I plan to publish both positive and negative reviews so if you wish to remain anonymous, just indicate it in your email.

Since 2009, when I published the first article about the OVER THE TOP GOLF® swing method, I sold hundreds of instructional DVDs before switching the the instructional eBook that I currently offer. After selling hundreds of these as well, there has been exactly one person in all that time who expressed dissatisfaction with my product! I had funny a feeling about that guy when he emailed me one day after making his payment asking where his DVD was. While I hope that all of your reviews will be positive, there may be those who have trouble adapting to the OVER THE TOP GOLF® swing. Hearing from you - in fact, relaying your experiences to everyone else can only help to shed light on the one thing that all of us hope to achieve when we tee it up. To be the last one in our foursomes to hit our second shots.

ARE GOLF LESSONS FOR YOU?

Within the broad spectrum of humans who play golf you'll find good and bad golfers, experienced ones and beginners, some for whom golf is a passion and others who rarely ever write their name on a scorecard. Pretty much the only thing they have in common is that they all took at least one golf lesson. I wonder what's the average number of lessons golfers take?

This article is about whether or not golf lessons are for you. There has to be the desire to learn and to improve, of course. So many of us wander out to the first tee without benefit of even a few range balls. And as far as practice goes? No, thanks. These aren't necessarily bad golfers, mind you. They have become comfortable with their slices, dubs, moon-shots and worm-burners. I know plenty of guys and gals who can hack their way around a course in the mid-eighties pretty consistently and they're happy with that.

Others of us, and I was definitely a member of this club, are always looking for a way to improve; to hit that nice high draw off the tee box and then land a softly faded iron shot close to the hole. My game was about being short off the tee and then hitting seven and nine woods in on the par 4s. In a good many attempts to conquer my over the top golf swing and get my club moving "on a proper plane" I took lessons. And guess what happened? I got a little better. But not for long. I was back to my wicked ways in no time except now I was carrying just a little bit more baggage.

There are so many theories regarding golf swings that it's hard to know which is right for you. That dilemma is compounded by the fact that as you get better, what the teaching pros expect you to do becomes more complicated. Over The Top Golf is different because you get to use your own swing, regardless of how terrible it might be. With just five set-up changes you'll soon be hitting them longer and dead-straight. The reasoning is that what you've become most comfortable doing is what you do best. Even if it's bad, it's still where your strength is. And it's on this foundation you'll build your future swing.

The rule of thumb as far as I'm concerned is if you have the potential to be a really good golfer and have the time and inclination to practice, try a golf pro for lessons. As unsuited as they are to teaching new tricks to old dogs, they might be an absolute necessity if you want to get really, really good. Like shooting rounds in the 60s good. For those of us who can't coax our bodies into doing all of the unnatural things called for in a "proper golf swing", consider learning my OVER THE TOP GOLF swing. It's a great golf instructional eBook and like I said, it's simply your own swing plus five set-up changes.

The golf swing is considered to be one of the most complicated things in life to master. Among those who have been humbled by the game are pro athletes who excelled at different sports, some of them who were champions and future hall of famers. Only a very select few ever get it right, I'd venture to say less than 1%. Nearly all of the retired professional athletes who play golf would love to be playing on the Champions Tour but none of them are, are they?

So are golf lessons for you? Or is something like OVER THE TOP GOLF what you are really looking for and what you really need?

As far as I'm concerned, if I didn't invent this swing I would have given up the game by now. Why? Well, I play for money. Don't you?

NICK PRICE, FUZZY ZOELLER AND PETER JACOBSEN - CHAMPIONS NO MORE

NICK PRICE
FORT PIERCE, Florida - Playing golf on the Senior Tour, Champions Tour or whatever they're calling it these days, are good golfers as well as consistently mediocre "I'm just a shell of my former self" types of golfers. Not that I give a rat's ass about Nick Price, Fuzzy Zoeller or Peter Jacobsen on a personal level but I am curious about why I never hear from guys like that. I mean, Price shot 80 on a course in Naples that was mastered by the likes of Kirk Triplett (67-66-66) and Olin Browne who was one shot out of the jackpot - golfers who, back in the day, couldn't - excuse the expression - carry Price's jock. And it's not just those three unfortunate examples. The once-great Tom Watson finished tied with Price at nine over par which barely avoided last place by a couple of lip outs. If amateur golfers from around the world are managing to find OVER THE TOP GOLF® and adding twenty-plus yards to their drives, well....you'd think a guy like Price might just be doing some research on the web after spitting the bit so often at these events.

Nick Price lives in Hobe Sound, Florida which is about three good John Daly drives from where I live in Fort Pierce. I would be happy to show Nick how he could add twenty or thirty yards to his tee shots. It would be great publicity for me and my OVER THE TOP GOLF® swing method. Playing in the final group on Sunday, seeing him do that walk through finish, television viewers and on-course spectators alike would be asking themselves WTF??? Senior golf doesn't get much press anymore but I'll guarantee that Price winning an event using such an unorthodox looking golf swing would have the writers crowding the exit door of the scoring trailer.

I've conceded that I'll probably never get the opportunity to turn the crown price of lousy golf - Charles Barkley - into a scoring machine so perhaps I should set my sights a bit lower. I have passed McArthur Golf Club many times, Nick. Know right where the entrance is. Pick up the phone and, well, you never know, maybe the next thing you'll be picking up is a trophy. Remember how to do that?

OVER THE TOP GOLF - A NEW AND DIFFERENT TYPE OF GOLF INSTRUCTION

OVER THE TOP GOLF - A NEW AND DIFFERENT TYPE OF GOLF INSTRUCTION

 One Man's Opinion

Their site is about golf instruction, golf lessons and golf swing optimization. The articles at OVER THE TOP GOLF range from technical to whimsical. Great information for junior golfers, women golfers and senior golfers as well as single-digit handicap golfers who need a change. I fixed my biggest problem - an over the top golf swing - by optimizing it. First, I had to accept the facts that my outside-in swing was an incurable condition and I'll never learn to swing like a golf pro. Like their web site said, I have 100% more confidence standing over the ball now and it was an easy to learn lesson. I think it's the best golf swing. I also like how it looks so different.

Another Man's Opinion

As far as golf instruction, golf lessons or what have you, this OVER THE TOP GOLF optimization method is by far the easiest to learn and most effective teaching that I've found. Up until now I have managed to screw up everything golf pros have tried to teach me over the years. I literally walked right through this course and aced it on the first try. Highly recommend this.

A Third Man's Opinion

O.K., I GOT YOUR EBOOK THIS WEEK AND WATCHED IT THREE TIMES BEFORE TAKING IT TO THE COURSE. OF COURSE I DID NOT EXPECT TO CONQUER THE CHANGES IN ONE SESSION. HOWEVER, I SEEMED TO HAVE A LOT OF TROUBLE WITH THE DRIVER. WHEN I STEP THRU THE SHOT, SHOULD I BE STEPPING TOWARD THE ACTUAL TARGET, OR TOWARD THE TARGET TO THE RIGHT OF MY TARGET. HAD A LOTTA TROUBLE WITH HIGH PUSH WITH THE DRIVER. ANY SUGGESTIONS? MAURICE

FRANKIE, THANK YOU FOR THE PROMPT REPLY. YES, I DID BETTER WITH THE IRONS. IT TAKES NERVE TO AIM AT THE WATER OR OB ON THE SET UP, HOWEVER I AM DETERMINED TO KEEP WITH IT! MAURICE

FRANKIE, THANKS FOR YOUR FOLLOW UP.  YES, I AM STICKING WITH YOUR INSTRUCTIONS.  HAVING TWO PROBLEMS IN PARTICULAR, AND I HOPE YOU CAN HELP ME.   I AM 76 BUT IN BETTER THAN AVERAGE CONDITION FOR MY AGE, BUT STILL 76!  FIRST, MY DRIVER IS STILL THE BIG PROBLEM.  TENDS TO  FEEL AS IF I HAVE HIT IT OFF CENTER, WITH NOT A LOT OF DISTANCE.  SECOND, MY SHOTS TEND TO BE QUITE LOW.  GOOD FOR DISTANCE, BUT TOUGH WHEN I NEED TO CARRY A HAZARD.  THANKS, MAURICE

Like many things in life, each person is affected differently by what they have learned. OVER THE TOP GOLF is instruction that is built on top of your own foundation. So if you swing too quick, you'll continue to swing too quick. The difference is that your golf ball will now go straight. Hang in there, Maurice.

RIGHT HAND, NEUTRAL AND LEFT HAND DOMINANT GOLF SWING DYNAMICS - USE ONE OR LEARN HOW TO DO ALL THREE?

Golf Swing Dynamics - Figure 1
JANUARY 4, 2014 - I would like to take this opportunity, before writing my 200th article for the OVER THE TOP GOLF® blog, to wish everyone a happy new year. And for those who are already students of this golf swing optimization method, continued success on the golf course in 2014. It really doesn't seem like six years have already passed since I created the great OVER THE TOP GOLF® swing but time, just as those of us who swing this way, marches on. I'm, of course, referring to the walk-through finish that is one of the five key components of my golf swing. Today, however, I'm going to touch on a subject that has nothing to do with those five set-up changes - right hand dominant, neutral and left hand dominant golf swing dynamics. There's a lesson here even for those who use a conventional golf swing.

Golf Swing Dynamics - Figure 2

These illustrations show a man tossing a Frisbee but you'll also notice how, instead of standing stock-still as in a conventional golf swing, he is walking through his toss as in the OVER THE TOP GOLF® swing. In a left hand dominant dynamic such as this, there is a noticeable pulling motion. A right hand dominant dynamic can be described as more like hitting a nail with a hammer while a neutral dynamic combines the two - more like breaking rocks with a sledge hammer or chopping down a tree with a long-handled axe.

Golf Swing Dynamics - Figure 3

By adding the walk through motion, he has added a tremendous amount of torque to his frisbee toss, creating power which, in turn, allows him to throw it farther than if his feet remained planted. This forward movement and torso rotation is an integral part of the OVER THE TOP GOLF® swing. Combined with the other four set-up changes, golfers can take maximum advantage of the force that your body will provide if you have the correct formula. In the golf swing, just using a walk through finish without proper positioning of the rest of you produces highly erratic results. But go outside later and try throwing a frisbee, or even a ball, both ways - with and without walking through the toss. See which one not only feels more natural but also travels farther.

Sometime soon I will write  articles that focus on the neutral and right hand dominant golf swing dynamic. In the OVER THE TOP GOLF® eBook all three are covered in detail prior to the actual golf lesson. I, myself, learned the golf swing using a dominant right hand dynamic so I still have a tendency to swing that way. But when something just doesn't feel right it's great knowing that I can switch to one of the others in order to save my round.
